WEBVTT Welcome and thanks for joining us for this overview for Azure Virtual Desktop users and apps, not just one, but both. I'll be your host for this module. My name is Sophie Goodwin. I'm an entertainer here at ACI Learning and I'll be kind of just asking questions along the way. For those of you at home that might have questions, but you're not here to ask them. I'll be functioning as a learner advocate. Of course, over here to my right is Anthony Sequera. He'll be our subject matter expert for this module. Anthony, tell us a little about yourself. Sure. If I've been working with Microsoft Azure for many, many years now since its inception actually, and then in addition to that, I've been supporting Windows environments all the way back to, boy, I remember Windows 3.1 was the client that I was working with before they even started naming Windows after years. It was Windows 3.1 as the client and it was something called Windows NT as the server operating system. I couldn't wait to teach the Azure Virtual Desktop courses here at ACI Learning because I felt well-positioned to do that. You're combining Microsoft technologies with Cloud technologies specifically Azure. Couldn't wait to lead these courses. By the way, I might point out that I am one of the full-time entertainers here at ACI Learning. You should see both myself and Sophie in a lot of videos in our library. That is very true. Good point. You might see us just wandering around the website if you take a look. For those people that are here watching this over, you want to make sure they're in the right place. Who is this module geared towards? Who's our target audience? Yeah. This is going to be targeted at anyone that is responsible for administration when it comes to the Azure Virtual Desktop environment. We're going to be making sure that you can really make your end users happy when it comes to Azure Virtual Desktop. They're going to want to do things like access their profile very quickly and efficiently. They're going to want to be utilizing their Windows applications. Think about it. That's often the reason we deploy Azure Virtual Desktop out to someone. They need Windows. Windows these days is a little trickier to get than ever. For instance, with the M1, M2, M3, Mac laptops and Mac desktop systems, Windows is a little tougher to get on there. In fact, even if you do something like a Parallels solution, you might find that when you're in your Parallels-based Windows on a Mac, you go to install something, it'll say, "No. I don't recognize this underlying architecture of the CPU." With things getting a little trickier these days, our users are going to want access to Windows. They're going to want to be able to do things like print and access files, and they're going to want to, of course, use those great Windows applications. That's all the stuff we're going to be helping them with in this episode. Going into this, just making sure we're well enough prepared before we get into the material. Are there any prerequisites or any knowledge we should have going in? Well, this is one of those deals where I will say this module certainly builds on the other modules that we have for Azure Virtual Desktop. We are going to assume that if you're here, you know what a host pool is, you know what a session host is, you know what a remote app application deployment is, you know what a application group is, a workspace. So you'll want to be familiar with the underlying architecture of Azure Virtual Desktop. Of course, if you got all excited to start this module, and you don't have that knowledge, have no fear. We have a module for you on deploying the architecture. We have a module for you on doing things like identity and security. So just go back and watch those other Azure Virtual Desktop modules in our library, so you are prepared for this one. Well, before we wrap up this overview, can we maybe get a sneak peek as to some of what we're going to look at in this module? Yeah. One of the things that we'll be doing really in this module is making Azure Virtual Desktop shine. Yeah. We're going to make it so that it is very functional for end users. We're going to show you how to control everything from remote desktop type settings right on up to what applications are going to be there when someone fires open their virtual machine inside of Azure. Well, all right. I feel pretty prepared to go into this module. So thank you for giving us a sneak peek and walking us through some of what we can expect. Thank you for joining us for this overview, and we'll see you in the course.
