Communication and Network Security
Communication and Network Security Overview
Communication and Network Security dives into secure design principles for networks, covering OSI/TCP/IP models, IPv4/IPv6, and protocols like IPSec, SSH, SSL/TLS. It explores network segmentation (physical, logical, micro), performance metrics, and traffic management. Topics include VoIP, wireless technologies, SDNs, and cloud networking with VPCs. The course also addresses secure network components, access control, endpoint security, and implementing secure communication channels for voice, video, and remote access. Essential for security professionals, it equips you with knowledge to design and manage secure networks effectively.

WEBVTT
Welcome into the
Communication and Network
Security portion. I'm your
host, Lauren Deal. I'll be your
learner advocate as we go
along. But the star of our show
today is Wes Bryan who's going
to be walking us through
everything you need to know.
So Wes,
tell us a little bit about
yourself. Sure. So I've been a
technical instructor, I don't
know, going on about 15 years
and I talk about a variety of
industry type of
certifications, things like
CompTIA and Microsoft, and
skills-based training as well.
So I'm looking forward to
diving in here with you all.
And then as we go through a
variety of concepts and
technologies to whether you
happen to be maybe on a
certification endeavor, or
maybe you're just trying to up
your knowledge and maybe move
up the ladder in a position
within your company. That's
what we're going to be doing
here in this episode.
This is fantastic. So we did
talk a little bit about who you
are and why this might apply to
you.
What are we going to be
talking about, Wes? Oh, we're
going to be talking about all
kinds of network stuff. You
know, it's really in a center
around the communication and
network security. So we're
going to be talking about
secure design principles.
We'll talk about a variety of
different technologies. We'll
talk about TCP IP, IP
addressing. We'll talk about
secure protocols, wireless,
wired networking,
software-defined networks,
all kinds of wonderful
concepts. We'll talk about
securing network components
like operations, transmission
media, network access, things
like endpoint security. And
then finally, we'll wrap it up
with some voice, video, and
collaboration technology, some
of the things that we need to
be aware of that, remote
access, and then third-party
communication. So we got a lot
to talk about within this
series, within this course.
So I hope you'll join us.
Oh, absolutely. So let's not
waste any more time. Click the
next video.
