You're watching ITV Pro TV. [MUSIC] Hello, ladies and gentlemen. Welcome to the LPIC-1 Linux Administrator series. I'm gonna be your host for this show. My name is Wes Bryan, and I have a background about a decade or so in teaching computer technologies. Like to introduce you to, well, the subject matter expert here for this series, who's got a fairly extensive career in Linux. Don, how's it going sir? I am doing well. So I am co founder and entertainer here at IT Pro TV. I have been working with Linux since the mid 1990s, actually, back when it first came about. So it is something that is near and dear to me that I've used quite a bit. And I've also worked in the field in the finance and insurance industries. And supported Linux in a number of different environments. And hopefully I can use that to bring some extra skills and advice to you all through your journey of learning Linux. Absolutely, so, Don, if our viewers are watching and one of the things I would think is what are they gonna get out of it? What's in it for them? Sure, so if you're out in the field and you are a system admin or somebody who's supporting server infrastructure, you're just getting into the cloud. You're likely having to work with Linux operating systems. So there's some basic skills you need to have. Things like how to install software, how to manage services, how to troubleshoot access logs, how to configure storage. And those are all some of the things that we're gonna be learning right here in this series. You'll be able to perform those tasks. So Don, let's talk just briefly about some of the course goals in the structures. What are the goals? And how are we gonna really just have this structure throughout this series? Sure, so this is actually built around a certification exam from LPI, the Lennox Professional Institute. And it's called the LPIC-1, or Lennox Professional Institute certification 1 or Linux administrator certification. So we're gonna use their exam objectives to structure this course to be able to run through and cover all the content to get you ready for that exam. Because that's something that a lot of people are gonna be looking for is getting a certification out of this. All right, so you mentioned this is a certification based course. Tell me a little bit about or I said to our viewers a little bit about the exam experience. All right, so this exam is a traditional multiple choice basic entry type exam like you see from most IT vendors that are out there. It is developed by the LPI. So if you wanna learn more about it, you can go to lpi.org is their website to be able to learn more. You can also schedule your exam on their website to be able to find out where you can take it nearby. There is online prospering that's in the works. In fact, by the time you hear this online, prospering is probably available. But you can always take it at the Pearson Vue testing centers across the world. Those are located in most places nearby. So you can typically find one either in your city or nearby. You can pay for the exam right there online to go and take it. This course is covering the LPIC-1 101-500 exam. Now, in order to get the LPIC-1 certification is actually two exams you have to take. So this is the first exam, and you can learn more about those over on lpi.org. And you can prepare for the second exam with us right here at IT Pro T V. Now, Don, I know why I'm excited to be a part of this course because I'm currently learning Linux. And it's one of my goals is to learn a lot more about Linux. Can you tell our viewers what excites you about this course coming up? To me the most exciting thing is, for you all it's learning a new operating system, right? It's always fun to try something new. But Linux is the cornerstone technology of so many things that are out there. IoT, the cloud, distributed computing, high performance computing, it's all being built on Linux. So this is one of the technology where it's been around over 20 years. But man, it is the cutting edge. This is the future. This is the operating system you need to be using. And so I'm passionate about the fact that I get to teach it. All right, ladies and gentlemen, well, I have to say, if that is something that you know, I know why I'm excited. I know Don loves Linux. And if it's something that you're excited about, stick around because we got a lot more exciting content coming up in the LPIC-1 Linux Administrator. Thank you for watching IT Pro TV.
