WEBVTT
Hello, ladies and gentlemen.
Thank you for tuning in.
We'd like to take a bit and
just give you an overview of
the course you're about to dive
into. I'm going to be your host
and learner advocate throughout
this series. My name is Wes
Bryant. I've been a technical
instructor for a little bit
better than a decade. MCT,
Microsoft Certified Trainer,
hold various industry-wide
certifications. And as a
technical instructor, I really
enjoy technology. But the
person that we want to talk to
is Mrs. Robin Abernathy because
she is going to be our subject
matter expert throughout this
course. Robin, you tell our
viewers a little bit about you
and your background in IT
training alone.
Yes. So I'm Robin Abernathy,
and like Wes, I do hold several
certifications kind of across
the board from multiple
vendors, CompT and Microsoft
and others. I do have about
years of experience in the IT
certification training arena,
whether it's I've done writing,
I've done teaching. So I've
just done a little bit of it
all, and I am so happy to be
here, and I'm excited to give
you some knowledge.
All right. So this course is
Manage Hybrid Virtual Machines
and Containers. And without
just giving everything away,
can you tell us a little bit
about what this course will be
about?
Yes. So the name is pretty
explanatory. You're going to be
going into being able to manage
a virtual machine, whether
you're doing it through Hyper-V
on an on-prem server or whether
you're doing those VMs in
Azure, in the cloud. And it's
going to talk about how you
make those work together.
Another great thing that we are
going to spend some time on is
containers. And those are, you
know, for some of us that are
in the administrative area, we
aren't as familiar with
containers. And so we dive into
that a little bit so that you
can understand how you can
help your developers manage
those containers. Very good.
Now, who is this course geared
for? I guess this will be a
two-part question. Who is it
geared for, and are there some
assumed knowledge that they
need to bring to the table in
this course?
I believe that you do have
some assumed knowledge. You do
have to be familiar with a lot
of the Windows Server tools.
And a little bit of familiarity
with Azure would be helpful.
Although Azure is a little bit
easier to learn than some of
the ways we've always had to
learn Windows Server, because
there's so many walkthroughs in
Azure. I think this is geared
toward anyone who really wants
to learn about anything hybrid,
particularly, of course,
because this course focuses in
on your hybrid virtual machines
and containers. But we have
focused in on AZ800. So if
you're thinking about taking
those certification exams, this
is part of that AZ800 package
that, depending on where you
are in your knowledge level,
this may be one of those
courses that you want to take.
All right. You know, I know why
I'm excited about this course.
I love Windows Server. I love
virtualization, and I love
working in Azure. So those are
my three favorites as why I
like being a part of this
course. What excites you about
this course, Robin?
Well, the thing that excites
me the most is probably just
the fact that you are doing
this in a hybrid manner.
And I know the cloud has been
out there for a while, and
we've been dealing with it for
many years now. However,
so many of us are still kind of
green. And we don't fully
understand this whole hybrid
thing. And I really enjoy the
fact that I'm still doing some
things on-prem, and those are
the things that I've probably
already done for a long time.
But now we're trying to marry
the two together and give you
that hybrid infrastructure and
give you all the tools that you
need so you don't have to have
always those physical machines
sitting in your data center.
You can do some of this in the
cloud.
All right. There you have
it, ladies and gentlemen.
I know that's why we're excited
for this course. We hope you're
excited for this course.
So without further ado, push
play, and we'll see you in the
first episode.
Overview
The Manage Hybrid Virtual Machines and Containers show is for information technology (IT) professionals who want to prepare for Microsoft's AZ-800 Administering Windows Server Hybrid Core Infrastructure exam. This course specifically covers the third domain of the AZ-800 exam, Manage virtual machines and containers, which is 15-20% of the exam. A viewer of the show in addition to personal study will gain knowledge and skills required for managing virtual machines and containers, including managing Hyper-V and guest virtual machines, creating and managing containers, and managing Azure virtual machines that run Windows Server.
