WEBVTT Welcome and thanks for joining us for this overview for the course Microsoft 365 administrator. So this is for the exam MS102, is that correct? Yes, indeed. Make sure I get that right. I'm going to be your host for this course. My name is Sophie Goodwin. I'll be asking questions along the way, things that you might be asking at home, serving as a learner advocate. I am certified in cybersecurity, but I'm here to learn and Anthony Sequera, our subject matter expert, is here to teach us. Anthony, tell us a little about yourself. Sure. Well, I am a full-time instructor now with ACI Learning. Super excited about that. Years ago, I was here just on a contractual basis, but now it's full-time ACI Learning and I couldn't be happier. I tend to specialize in networking, but every once in a while, they let me out of that box to be able to do things like Microsoft technologies, which I have been using for decades. I'm one of those old school MCSEs on Windows NT. If you can believe that, that was the free Windows Server product decades ago. It's been really fun and fascinating to see Microsoft take so much of what they do to the Cloud, and that is certainly going to be the recurring theme as Sophie and I walk you through Microsoft 365 administration. I know we've got this broken down into modules. We've got four modules. Can you walk us through the core structure? Yes, for sure. There are four modules that are going to be focusing on Microsoft 365 and they are as follows. First and foremost, we need to teach you about setting up a Microsoft 365 tenant. There is a lot that has changed about this over the years. Sophie and I are going to guide you through the latest and greatest when it comes to what domain name can you have? How can you bring in a custom domain? How do you create users? How do you create groups? How do permissions work? All that fun stuff. We're then also going to take a deep dive into Azure Active Directory, soon to be named Entra ID. But that hasn't officially happened yet. As far as Sophie and I are concerned, so we'll call it Azure Active Directory as it's been classically called. Why do we go in there? Why do we have a section of this course dedicated to that? Well, that is where all of your user accounts and groups actually live. There's a lesson in and of itself right there. We have to be ready for maintaining the user accounts of Microsoft 365 inside of Azure Active Directory. Once we take care of the tenant discussion, once we take care of the identity discussion, we'll then turn our attention to two different products in the last pieces of this course. One is Microsoft 365 Defender. We're going to take a look at all of the great security features that we inherit with Microsoft 365 Defender to keep our Microsoft 365 infrastructure and ecosystem secure. We wrap it up with the final product look in this course, and that is something called Microsoft Purview. I can't wait for you to get there because I'm sure many of you are thinking, "What the heck is that?" So many people have never even heard of Microsoft Purview. Sophie and I will walk you through that, and just to give you a big hint, it's going to be a lot about compliance and governance when it comes to Microsoft Purview. So now that we have an idea of what we're going to be covering in these modules, what would you recommend for people that are going to be watching this? What would you recommend their experience level should be? Well, I'll tell you, it really these days, I sound like a broken record, Azure, Azure, Azure. As much Azure experience and familiarity as you can get, please go after that. Microsoft is moving everything to Azure. We've heard about it, we've seen the signs, and now it's happening. More and more key products and services are moving to Azure. A great example of that is Intune. Microsoft Intune was never cloud-based before, and now that's the only way you can operate it. It is a feature of the cloud. So as much strength as you can get in Azure, the better. Well, I'm looking forward to going into this course. What are you most looking forward to about this course? I think I'm most looking forward to just making sure that our students are going to have a breeze when it comes to maintaining or even rolling out for the very first time Microsoft 365 in their environment. Well, that's as good a way to end it as any. I think that's going to wrap up our overview for Microsoft administrator. So thank you for joining us and we'll see you in the course.
