Intro to NumPy

Intro to NumPy Overview
In this series, we cover the basics of using NumPy for basic data analysis. Some of the things that are covered are as follows: installing NumPy using the Anaconda Python distribution, creating NumPy arrays in a variety of ways, gathering information about large datasets such as the mean, median and standard deviation, as well as utilizing Jupyter Notebooks for exploration using NumPy. [SOUND] Welcome ladies and gentlemen. Maybe you've heard of this term NumPy and it's a little intriguing but you don't know where to begin. Perfectly fine, we've got expert in Justin Dennison in house to help us through all these tough questions like, Justin what is a NumPy? Is there a certification attached to it? Why do I wanna learn NumPy? So, those are all great questions, Cherokee. And let's start with why would I want to learn NumPy? Well, if you're interested in the data science realm or you just want to speed up some numerical calculations here in the scientific realm, NumPy is a great tool, because it provides a pythonic interface to some underlying C libraries and Fortran libraries that help speed up your code. But what are we really gonna learn? Well, we're gonna learn how to install, and kind of my recommendations on installation of NumPy. But also how to construct arrays, how to manipulate arrays, how to visualize these arrays through various means. And how to use the Jupyter Notebook tool, for these prototyping actions. So you did ask, is there a certification? There is not a certification for this, but that does not diminish its value. This is geared towards someone who has some programming experience and has a very particular use case for, well, needing fast calculations, numerical calculations in particular. And, well, it's here to help you power up your Python skills. So if that seems like something you're interested in, then please join us. [SOUND]
